  1. Cross all stitches in the same direction, otherwise an irregular pattern is created.
  2. A wooden embroidery frame can help you to create your artwork. This way you get enough tension in the fabric and can work your masterpiece cleanly (see accessories).
  3. To avoid unattractive and unwanted stains, we recommend that you wash your hands before embroidering.
  4. You will get the optimal thread length by measuring the thread from your fingertip to your elbow. This length is perfect for working and reduces the number of tangles in the thread.

  1. It is best to start with the motif first and then embroider the background.
  2. Embroider the darker colours first and then start with the lighter colours.
  3. To prevent the corners of your picture from fraying, we recommend that you protect the corners of your picture with zig zag scissors or a small amount of fringe stop. Alternatively, you can get a small bottle of Fransenstopp in any craft shop.
  4. Don't worry about how the back of your picture looks like, you won't see it later anyway. Often the back of an embroidery piece presses a really interesting
    personality and is therefore also a unique work of art.
  5. Do not forget to have fun and relax! Cross-stitch has been proven to have an extremely positive effect on your mental and physical health.

  3. Wash your work of art with a little soap and water after it has been created. Washing the painting will wash out the oils that have accumulated in the threads and fabric. If you do not remove the oils, in some cases the seams of your artwork may deteriorate and the colors may turn yellow.

Useful tips for washing your Thread Art work:


  • Use lukewarm water - hot water can fade the color from the threads a little
  • Clear shampoo is good for washing, alternatively you can also use curd soap
  • Leave your picture to soak in water for about 10 - 15 minutes
  • You can carefully move the painting back and forth in the water with your hand, the oils and dirt will dissolve from your painting
  • Wash your picture with clear water afterwards
  • Then roll your artwork onto a light-coloured towel and gently squeeze it to remove excess water
  • Afterwards lay your picture carefully and flat with the motive down on a towel, so your picture can dry in peace
